How does an act of kindness result in. . . marriage?
One carefree cowboy is about to find out in this sweet historical romance!
Born dirt-poor into a life of hardship, Allie Tillman seizes the opportunity to better her situation by answering an advertisement for a mail-order bride in the West. Upon her arrival in Baker City, Oregon, she discovers her intended is a low-down, lying thief. Determined to avoid a life of drudgery with him, she grasps at the one thing that will keep him from forcing her to be his wife — marrying another man.
Good-natured cowboy Ben Amick had no idea a simple trip into town would completely change his life. When he happens upon a mail-order bride desperate to avoid marrying her fiancé, Ben does the first thing that pops into his head and weds her. Willingly, he gives her the protection of his name and his arms, never expecting her to capture his heart.
Humorous, heartfelt, and awash in sweet romance, Bobbins and Boots captures the tender and tumultuous emotions of falling in love.

Imagine heading into town to pick up a few essentials for the ranch you are working on and coming home with a bride! That's exactly what happened to young ranch hand Ben Amick. Mail-order bride Allie Tilman arrives in Baker City anticipating a wedding but to her shocking surprise the intended groom is the town's drunken sleazy loser. Poor sweet Allie escapes a hard-scrabble existence where she barely had enough food and literally slept on the dirt floor with her entire family in a one room sod house. At the hasty suggestion of good friend Sheriff Tully, Ben rashly rescues Allie from certain disaster by marrying her on-the-spot!Thus begins the awkward post-wedding "courtship" of Ben and Allie. Thin and threadbare from a life of hardship, the Jordan ranch soon discovers a diamond-in-the-rough as hard-working Allie shows competency in everything she puts her hands to. Faithful ranch hand Ben goes out of his way to provide Allie with every comfort and personal possession she never thought she deserved.
In a delightful continuation of the Baker City Brides series, all of the close-knit and lovable characters make appearances, as well as the author's penchant for introducing some colorful and humorous animal friends.
As featured in the title, one of Allie's gifts is her skill at creating bobbin lace, a gift her mother taught her. This reader/reviewer had to "Google" bobbin lace to figure out what made it so special. This ancient lace-making technique creates breath-taking beauty and gives Allie a means to support herself. It is the author's reverence for historical detail that helps give these stories such color, charm, and significance.
For me, this is the author's finest romantic example of two deserving people as they struggle from being total strangers to that emotional plateau of realizing love for one another. As in the author's story of Bertie, from the Pendleton Petticoats series, a blind-sided zinger of a surprise awaits the reader that changes everything for Ben, his bride and the Jordan ranch.
Although this story stands alone, a full appreciation of the previous events is realized in reading ALL of the stories in the Baker City Brides series. Just when I thought author Shanna Hatfield could not possibly out-do herself in this series, she manages to up her game still another notch.

Bobbins and Boots Baker City Brides Book 4 edition by Shanna Hatfield Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I have read, several times I might add, all of the Baker City Brides books, and this one is just as great as the others. I truly enjoyed the reality of Allie, and her uncertainties in the kindness shown her by these people she didn't know. All she had ever known was anger, pain, and hard work. And the perfect man for her was definitely Ben. I loved him when we first met him in Thane and Jemma's story, and enjoyed really getting to know him better. I couldn't put the book down. I know I will read it again, maybe even tonight. Shanna Hatfield is such a talented author and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
Not just another 5* review. I loved this book. I have read 2 others in this series and do believe this was my favorite.
It has twist and turns that you never see coming. I love the relationship between Ben and Ellie.
I love the British words used and love the character Aunt Gussie. Not a common name plus I have an aunt with the same name.
I Love Shanna Hatfield and have yet to read something by her that I have hated.
This is a stand alone book. Although in a series and past characters are mentioned you do not feel lost because you have not read the prior books. When you finish this one you will want to go back and read those too plus buy all future books.
Way to go!
Shanna has a way of writing that pulls you in right from the first page. This book was just wonderful, well all her books are! So many twists and turns to a journey that is filled with love, adventure, and sweet romance. It's such a different story from the mail order bride books I read all the time. So full of history and a mystery too. There is never a dull moment in her books. The characters become alive and to the reader you feel like you have a front row seat to all the coming and goings. Loved the way the hero was so tender. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a clean romance along with all the adventures. Can hardly wait for the next book in this series. A pure delight to read, I can't stop smiling!
Bobbins and Boots is a wonderful mail order bride story with lovable characters! Ben is a hardworking, loyal cowboy that has caught the eye of all the single girls in town, but none of them have caught his attention. He's too busy working on the Jordan ranch and enjoying life until he meets Allie.
Allie has had a tough life and knows how to work hard and take care of herself and those around her. Due to the harsh conditions of her childhood home, she answers an ad to be a mail order bride. Unfortunately, her prospective groom is a horrible man that doesn't even show up to meet her. Thankfully, Ben along with many of the wonderful folks from Baker City intervene before it's too late.
This story is filled with sweet romance, funny moments, and a fantastic twist I never expected! Like all of Shanna Hatfield's books, I will definitely read it again and again!!
Allie escapes from a horrible family environment, putting her trust in the mail order bride advert she answered. Only problem is her prospective groom wasn't waiting at the train station when she got there ... and when she tells people his name they look horrified.
Ben went into town to get supplies for the ranch, never expecting to come home a married man. And then he managed to run out after the wedding and get back to the ranch without realising he left his bride behind. How does he sort this out?
This was a story that caught my interest from the start and kept it right to the end. Best read in one setting, so don't start it late at night! Definitely a book I would recommend.
